Record-breaking Giulia Saggin won the 170 km women’s race

The Italia ultrarunner won in 33 hours, 21 minutes and 37 seconds, demolishing the previous course record

Giulia Saggin, born in Piedmont in 1992, won the women’s Adamello Short Trail, over a distance of 170 km. Saggin was the favorite on the eve of the race, but she won with a very notable margin over the second (whose arrival was expected several hours after her) and with a new course record: 33 hours, 21 minutes and 37 seconds. Saggin returned to the start of the Adamello Ultra Trail after being forced to retire in 2001, and led the race – solo – from the first meters to the last.
