THE REGULATIONS

L’Adamello Vertical Kilometer (AVK) is a race of 3.7 km of length and 1000m of positive difference in altitude, to run in self-sufficiency, organized by ASD Adamello Ultratrail in cooperation with insitutions, associations and sponsors.

The organization holds the right to modify the regulations. If any variation shall occur, it will be announced on our social media platforms.

  • The maximum time allowed to finish the race is of 2 hours for the Men’s category and of 2 hours and 15 minutes for the Women’s category.
  • At 11:00 AM the awarding ceremony will take place in the arrival area, located in Tòr di Pagà. After that, participants will walk back to the start in Vione, along a 4.5 km downhill path and mule track.
  • At 12:00 PM, the pasta party will be held by the former school builing in Vione
  • Showers and changing rooms are NOT available.

The path mostly winds on wooden roads, mule tracks and hiking paths, with very few challenging and/or exposed spots. However, the participation is for athletes with a proved experience of races in mountain environment, aware of the length of the race and able to run it in self-sufficiency, with no external help

In order to be eligible to participate, competitors must be born in 2007 or before, and to be hold of a fitness certificate for the practice of this competitive activity, issued by a sports medicine doctor and recognized in their country of residence, valid for the duration of the race. National health insurance card is mandatory and, for foreigners E111 model.

When registering, participants agree with starting and finishing the route carrying the mandatory equipment at all times (checks can be performed in any moment): technical equipment, shoes and clothing must be suited for skyrunning or trail running.

The race director has the right to decide if participants are supposed to wear an anti-wind jacket, also for the non-competitive event, according to the weather conditions. (In this regard, a statement will be released on the day before the event)

Any integration are variation will be issued and communicated on the day before the events.

  • GPS device

  • Hooded impermeable jacket
  • Backpack with back-up clothes (it is possible to leave it to the organization at the start, to be found ath the finish)
  • Trekking or skiing sticks are allowed. Please don’t leave your sticks on the route, as there won’t be a dedicated pick-up/transport service.

The track will be marked with small flags To participate in the event, it’s required to have good orienting skills in mountain environment. It is suggested to use a GPS device: the track will be available online and promptly adjusted if any variation should occur.

Competitors must follow the path marked by the organization without taking any shortcut. Cut or leave the course is dangerous for the competitors and will result in disqualification from the event.

Competitors out of time or struggling will have to abandon the race only at a checkpoint, where they will be accompanied downstream by the organization staff.

In case of illness or injury, the organization must be contacted. Runners abandoning the race without notifying it immediately to the organization will be charged with all rescuing expenses carried out by the staff

At all times during the race, participants must keep going in self-sufficiency, with no external help, except for the refreshments provided by the organization.

Competitors, in case of need, are required to assist and help each other.

In order to guarantee the best racing conditions, no pets are allowed.

All decisions will be made by the jury and will be considered as final. There are the following penalties:

  • Unsportsmanlike conduct, threats / insults for athletes / organizers / volunteers or actions that could be considered hazardous to their safety or that may affect the smooth running of the race = disqualification
  • Missing out on a checkpoint = disqualification
  • abandoning or cutting the race course
  • Leaving rubbish on the path or causing environmental damage = disqualification
  • Missing out on assisting a competitor in trouble= disqualification
  • External assistance unauthorized = from 30 sec to disqualification
  • (use of means of transport in the race = disqualification)
  • refusal to submit to the control or lack of obligatory material = disqualification
  • Participants bringing pets along will be disqualified and considered as external to the race, therefore responsible for all damages caused to themselves, other participants or any third part in general.

Some check points are set along the route: missing on a check point equals disqualification.

A struggling participant who wants to quit the race, spontaneously or as per decided by the Jury/Medical staff, must do so at the closest check point, to allow the organization to provide the needed assistance and the downstream transportation.

  • Registrations open on April 3rd, 2023.
  • By the act of registration, competitors release the organizers from all civil and criminal action against persons and property for damage that may occur during and after the race in relation to the same.
  • Registrations are of €25, to be done before the deadline of September 10th, 2023. After this date, registrations will be possible for the raised price of €35. Registrations will be closed when reaching the maximum amount of participants (100)
  • By registering to the event, participants are allowed to take part in the event according to its program. A gadget will be provided to all participants.
  • The winning rider is the one reaching the finish line in Tòr dei Pagà in the shortest time.
  • Rankings and awards will be issued according to the following categories:
    • Overall Male and Female (first 5 for each category)
    • Young Male and Female Classification (born from 2000 to 2007, first 3 of each category)
    • Expert Male and Female Classification (born before 1973, first 3 of each category)
  • Any claim must be issued within 30 minutes from the official results’ announcement, after the payment of a €100 fee which will be refunded only in case of positive outcome of the claim.
  • All finishers will be awarded with a medal

Should the race be cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control, the Organizers reserve the right to refund 80% of the registration fee paid, or the athlete can keep his registration valid for one of the two subsequent editions of his/her choice. This percentage is calculated to enable the Organizers to cover part of the expenses incurred, which cannot be recovered.

Should the race be cancelled or interrupted for atmospheric reasons, or for any other reason beyond our control, no refund of the registration fee will be made. The organization holds the right to modify at any time the route, gates’ timing, max time allowed, position of the refreshments and starting time, as well as the possibility to cancel or suspend the race.
