Adamello Ultra Trail lights up September for Italian trail running

The Pontedilegno-Tonale area is set for a packed month of trail and ultra running. The Adamello Series open the calendar on Sunday, September 14th, followed by the main event from September 26th to 28th, with four distances ranging from 35 to 170 km

September is here, and anticipation for the 2025 Adamello Ultra Trail is reaching its peak. From September 26th to 28th, 2025, the iconic trail and ultra-running race that follows the WWI military paths across the Pontedilegno-Tonale area returns for its 11th edition. The spectacular routes within the Adamello and Stelvio Natural Parks — crossing forests, high ridges, wartime trenches, and panoramic alpine scenery — promise runners a true journey through both nature and history.

Organized by ASD Adamello Ultra Trail and coming off a record-breaking edition in terms of participants and nations represented, this year’s program kicks off on Sunday, September 14th in Vione (Brescia) with four races of the Adamello Series. The morning features the Adamello Vertical Kilometer, now part of the international VK Open Championships and certified by the International Skyrunning Federation.

Athletes can tackle three formats — Competitive, Slow, and Junior — on a 3.7 km route with 1,000 m of vertical gain (3 km and 700 m for the Junior race). The course climbs straight from the village center to the archaeological site of Tor dei Pagà (2,250 m). In the afternoon, the spotlight shifts to the Adamello Trail Junior, designed to introduce kids and young teens to the world of skyrunning and mountain sports.

The main weekend follows ten days later. On Thursday, September 25th, the race headquarters open at the Centro Eventi “Adamello” in Vezza d’Oglio (Brescia). The day features the official media presentation, the race office opening, and an evening technical briefing in Piazza IV Luglio with the latest course details and safety updates.

The racing action starts on Friday, September 26th with the three long-distance challenges, all starting and finishing in Vezza d’Oglio: the Adamello Half Trail 60 km (7:00 a.m.), the Adamello Trail 100 km (8:00 a.m.), and the queen distance, the Adamello Ultra Trail 170 km (100 miles) (9:00 a.m.). On Saturday, September 27th at 2:00 p.m., the Adamello Short Trail 35 km kicks off from Monno (Brescia), also finishing in Vezza d’Oglio later that evening.

As in previous years, the two longest distances (170 km and 100 km) are part of the TORX® eXperience circuit, offering 15 finishers the exclusive chance to secure a bib for the Tor des Géants 2026 without going through the lottery.
