Adamello Ultra Trail opens registration on March 16th

The Pontedilegno–Tonale event officially lifts the curtain on the September 25–27 race weekend. Registration opens on March 16th for the four distances of 35, 60, 100 and 170 km, with the two longest races once again awarding 15 PAX for the Tor des Géants® 2027. The event format is confirmed, with Early Bird registration available until June 30th

The wait is finally over: from March 16th, runners will be able to register for the 12th edition of Adamello Ultra Trail, scheduled for September 25–27. Following a record-breaking edition in 2025 — with more than 1,000 participants representing 34 countries — the Pontedilegno–Tonale trail and ultra running event is ready to build on that success and once again target strong participation numbers.

The OC of Adamello Ultra Trail A.S.D. has confirmed the established format featuring four main distances and an equal number of side events, with routes crossing the historic Great War paths between Alta Valle Camonica and Alta Val di Sole. The event offers challenges for runners of all ages and experience levels, starting with the Adamello Trail Junior for younger athletes, continuing with the Adamello Vertical Kilometer for skyrunning enthusiasts and elite athletes, and culminating with one of the toughest alpine 100-mile races on the international calendar.

With the exception of the 35 km distance — which maintains a single entry fee of €40.00 — registration for the three longer courses is divided into two phases: an Early Bird period from March 16th to June 30, followed by a Regular Registration phase at a slightly higher rate until entries close. During the Early Bird phase, race bibs can be secured via the Wedosport platform at €220 / €120 / €90 for the 170 km, 100 km and 60 km respectively. From July 1, entry fees will increase to €240 / €140 / €100. Participation is capped at 250 runners for the 170 km race, while the remaining distances will each be able to accommodate up to 300 participants.

The ultimate challenge is the Adamello Ultra Trail 170 km, starting and finishing in Vezza d’Oglio (Brescia) — the event’s headquarters — where runners will face 11,500 meters of elevation gain and multiple high-altitude sections. The highest points on the course include Cima Rovaia and Bocchetta di Valmassa, both reaching 2,500 meters above sea level, and the Passo dei Contrabbandieri, the race’s highest peak, rising to nearly 2,700 meters.

Next in descending order of distance is the Adamello Trail 100 km, featuring 6,050 meters of elevation gain. The course follows the 170 km route up to the 80 km mark, including all the major peaks. After the Ponte di Legno life base, the route joins the historic Via Carolingia before heading back towards Vezza d’Oglio.

The Adamello Half Trail 60 km, with 4,000 meters of elevation gain, is the most recent challenge introduced by the organizers. Both editions held to date have sold out, confirming the distance as an immediate favorite among participants. The route mirrors the two longer courses up to Sant’Apollonia, in the municipality of Ponte di Legno, before returning to base and then tackling Case di Viso and the iconic night-time climb to the Passo dei Contrabbandieri.

The most intense and accessible challenge is the Adamello Short Trail 35 km, with 2,200 meters of elevation gain. Starting from the nearby town of Monno (Brescia), it is the only race that kicks off on Saturday rather than Friday morning.

Winners of the 11th edition, held from September 26 to 28, 2025, were Alessandro Mioli and Margherita Vitali in the 35 km, Luca Arrigoni and Paola Gelpi in the 60 km, Alessandro Affolati and Beliana Hilbert in the 100 km, and Simon Krautloher and Kristina Kmetova in the 170 km. Kmetova has already announced on social media her return in 2026, and confirmed her status as champion over the long distance in the winter challenge of La Grande Corsa Bianca.

As in the past two editions, Adamello Ultra Trail continues its partnership with the international TORX eXperience circuit. Thanks to this collaboration, finishers of the 100 km and 170 km races will be awarded 15 PAX for the Tor des Géants 2027, without having to go through the lottery.

As for the Adamello Series — the side events featuring Adamello Vertical Kilometer and Adamello Trail Junior -, registration will open at a later date, closer to race weekend.
