Despite unstable weather forcing changes to avoid the highest peaks, over 1,000 athletes \u2013 a new event record \u2013 are ready for the alpine adventure across Alta Val Camonica and Alta Val di Sole. Updated distances and elevation profiles for the 60K, 100K and 170K: \u201cSafety always comes first.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everything is set for the eleventh edition of Adamello Ultra Trail<\/strong>. On Thursday, September 25th, the race office opened in Vezza d\u2019Oglio (Brescia), followed by the evening technical briefing at the Centro Eventi<\/strong> headquarters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite unsettled forecasts, the organizers of Adamello Ultra Trail A.S.D.<\/strong> confirmed the full event program, with the longer races starting tomorrow, Friday, September 26th, and the 35K<\/strong> scheduled for Saturday afternoon from Monno. For safety reasons, following recent and expected precipitation at altitude, adjustments have been introduced to the 60K, 100K<\/strong> and 170K<\/strong> courses. They now measure 58K (3,800 m elevation gain instead of 4,000)<\/strong>, <\/strong>85K (5,000 m D+ instead of 6,050)<\/strong> and 154K (9,500 m D+ instead of 11,500)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur top priority was to ensure the race could take place safely,<\/em>\u201d said the organizers. \u201cWe managed to do so while keeping the courses close to their original lengths and preserving our hallmark passages along the <\/em>Great War trails<\/em><\/strong>. The new routes, which simply avoid sections above <\/em>2,500 m<\/em><\/strong>, have already been fully marked \u2013 an extra effort, but essential to guarantee a safe and enjoyable weekend. This year\u2019s Adamello Ultra Trail<\/strong> welcomes over 1,000 athletes from 34 countries<\/strong> \u2013 both record figures. After Italy, the most represented nations are Germany (33 athletes)<\/strong>, Great Britain<\/strong> and Czech Republic (14 each)<\/strong>. Competitors are also arriving from Scandinavia, Africa and the Americas, from the United States<\/strong> down to Argentina<\/strong>. Female participation has reached new heights too, with more than 200 women<\/strong> lining up at the start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The women\u2019s field includes defending champions of the 100K<\/strong> and 60K<\/strong>, Germany\u2019s Beliana Hilbert<\/strong> and Italy\u2019s Valentina Moderana<\/strong>, both chasing back-to-back wins. Among their strongest rivals in the 100K<\/strong> are Piedmont twins Enrica and Luisa Dematteis<\/strong> and former winner Francesca Crippa<\/strong>. In the men\u2019s race, contenders include France\u2019s Pierre Augrit<\/strong> and Italy\u2019s Alessandro Affolati<\/strong> \u2013 runner-up last year behind the unstoppable Epiney<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the shorter course, Raffaella Rossi<\/strong> \u2013 already victorious in 2021<\/strong> and 2022<\/strong> \u2013 will aim for a historic third crown, which would make her the first woman, and only the second athlete after Switzerland\u2019s Walter Manser<\/strong>, to achieve a triple #AUT<\/strong> triumph. The flagship 170K<\/strong> is expected to be wide open, with weather conditions likely to play a decisive role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A GLOBAL SHOWCASE FOR THE ENTIRE VALLEY<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Adamello Ultra Trail<\/strong> winds through seven municipalities in Brescia province<\/strong> (Edolo, Incudine, Monno, Ponte di Legno, Tem\u00f9, Vezza d\u2019Oglio, Vione<\/strong>) and one in Trento province (Vermiglio)<\/strong>, within the spectacular Adamello and Stelvio Nature Parks<\/strong>. The course ranges from 650 m above sea level<\/strong> at Edolo<\/strong> to 2,480 m<\/strong> at Rifugio Bozzi<\/strong>, now the highest point following the modifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event is held under the patronage of Regione Lombardia<\/strong>, supported by the Unione dei Comuni dell\u2019Alta Valle Camonica<\/strong> and Comunit\u00e0 Montana di Valle Camonica<\/strong>. Vital contributions also come from local associations \u2013 from Fire Brigade<\/strong> to the Pezzo-Ponte di Legno section of C.A.I.<\/strong>, from Red Cross<\/strong> to Alpine Rescue<\/strong> and Protezione Civile<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mountain huts and bivouacs along the route provide continuous assistance throughout the weekend, while also serving as gateways for exploring the area. The Pontedilegno-Tonale<\/strong> region is a renowned year-round destination, offering trekking, cycling and bike touring, climbing, rafting, and over 40 ski slopes<\/strong> attracting enthusiasts from all over the world during winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among commercial partners, MICO Sport<\/strong> returns as main sponsor for the eighth consecutive year. Alongside the Brescia-based technical apparel company, long-standing partners include Edison, Ferrino, Salice<\/strong> and DF Sport Specialist<\/strong>.
