Adamello Ultra Trail unveils a new challenge: it’s time for AVK – Adamello Vertical Kilometer

A new addition to the Adamello Series has been announced : the AVK event, along with its non-competitive counterpart, Adamello Vertical Slow (AVS), will debut in the Pontedilegno-Tonale area on Sunday, September 17th, coinciding with the Adamello Trail Junior.

As the ninth edition of Adamello Ultra Trail approaches (22-24 September, 2023), the organization of Adamello Ultra Trail asd has unveiled a new event to be debuted in 2023. The AVK (Adamello Vertical Kilometer) and its non-competitive counterpart, AVS (Adamello Vertical Slow), aim to provide runners with a different experience from the classic ultra-trail while showcasing the beautiful Alta Val Camonica and Pontedilegno-Tonale area in Northern Italy.

On September 17th, athletes and running enthusiasts will gather in the main square in Vione (Brescia) and attempt to reach the finish line at Tor Dei Pagà, an archaeological site, after 3.9 km and 1000 meters of elevation gain. The first group to tackle the steep challenge will be the participants ofAdamello Vertical Slow followed by female and male runners of AVK.

The registration fee for this edition is 25.00 until September 10th, , which includes a bib number, race package by Mico Sport (main sponsor of Adamello Ultra Trail and an Italian excellence for socks and technical sportswear), a liquid refreshment point halfway on the route a pasta party at the end, awards for winners in each category, and a finisher’s medal.

We’ve been considering this for a while,” said Paolo Gregorini head of the organization “This new Vertical event allows us to showcase our area even more to running and trail running enthusiasts, with less time and energy required compared to our main event, Adamello Ultra Trail.”

AVK and AVS will be part of the Adamello Series a panel of side events linked to AUT, which already includes another event for kids and teenagers, who will earn the spotlights after the conclusion of the Vertical events with the Adamello Trail Junior

with loops and routes of varying length and difficulty according to age, around the village of Vione. Registrations are available from April 3rd
