650 starters for the 7th edition (September 24-26, 2021) of the popular ultrarunning event between Alta Val Camonica and Alta Val di Sole, in the Pontedilegno-Tonale area. After the 2020 cancellation due to the bad weather, the new edition brings several new features

Adamello Ultra Trail returns from September 24th to 26th, 2021 on the paths of the Great War in the Pontedilegno-Tonale area, between the Alta Val Camonica and the Alta Val di Sole, in the Adamello and Stelvio National Parks. After the cancellation due to bad weather in 2020, the event returns with plenty of news for the seventh edition, which was officially presented on Friday, July 9th, 2021 in the picturesque setting of Capanna Presena (2753 mt), near the homonymous glacier.

The launch of this new edition was attented by the representatives of the territorial authorities: Mauro Testini, President of the Unione dei Comuni dell’Alta Valle Camonica and Mayor of Vione, Marco Gasparotti, Council Member of Vezza d’Oglio, Ilario Sabbadini, Councillor of the Comunità Montana di Valle Camonica, Davide Panizza, President of the Pontedilegno-Tonale Consortium and Graziano Pennacchio, CEO of Visit Brescia.

A STACKED PROGRAMME

There are many new features in the 2021 edition of the Adamello Ultra Trail: new sections have been introduced on the courses of the three different distances (170 km and 11,500 mt positive gain, 90 km and 5,700 mt positive gain, 35 km 1,700 mt positive gain), whose entries went sold-out in just 60 days from the registration opening (200 participants for the 170 km Ultra Trail, 250 on the 90 km intermediate distance and 200 for the 35 km Short Trail). For the first time, the two longer races will pass by the Bivacco Linge and the Rifugio Valmalza.

The program of the “Adamello Series” collateral events has also been renewed, as they now take place in the set up to the main events rather than contemporarily. On Sunday, August 29th, 2021, it will be time for the sixth edition of Adamello Run, the 30 km competitive run (600 mt positive gain) in Alta Val Camonica organized in collaboration with ASD Rosa Running Team, starting and finishing in Ponte di Legno. The same day will also mark the debut of Adamello Slow, a non-competitive 20 km hike. Sunday, September 19th, 2021, is the day chosen for Adamello Trail Junior, the event dedicated to kids from 0 to 19, with several rings going from Vione to the enchanting Conca di Premia.

Paolo Gregorini, President of ASD Adamello Ultra Trail, the event organizing company, expressed his satisfaction: “I remember when 7 years ago we started with 70 athletes and among the general skepticism. Today we have sold out the 650 available numbers and we keep on getting more requests: it means that hard work is paying off, and I am grateful to all those who have supported us, volunteers, sponsors, and institutions. For the future, our dream is to create a permanent ring linked to Adamello Ultra Trail: it is an ambitious project, but one that we are looking to fulfill.”

The 2021 year also brought this new official website: an accessible and user-friendly portal shaped around the demands of fans and athletes, demands, who can now also join the dedicated Strava Club. With the new platform, the trail-running event continues its process of renewal in terms of image and communication.

GROWING TOGETHER

The Adamello Ultra Trail growth is reflected by the prestigious partners that chose to run alongside the organizing committee led by Paolo Gregorini. Technical sportswear company Mico Sport will be the main sponsor for the fourth consecutive year. Italian renowned technical footwear company SCARPA has joined the main partners’ field that also includes Italian energy company Edison.

Adamello Ultra Trail is now officially ready to start over again, bringing the beauty of the Adamello National Park and the secrets of the Great War trails further to even more fans: 2020 is gone for good, now there’s only to look ahead.
