From guided excursions on the paths of the Great War to the Water Music Festival: an exciting summer in the Pontedilegno-Tonale consortium will be finalized by the Adamello Series and the Adamello Ultra Trail
The Adamello Natural Park, together with the Stelvio National Park, will be home to the Adamello Ultra Trail from September 24th to 26th. The event taking place in the Pontedilegno-Tonale area along the paths of the Great War, between Alta Val Camonicaand Alta Val di Sole, is the highlight of a summer season full of events to discover the territory as a whole.
All initiatives, ranging from excursions to discover the local flora to climbing, are accessible through the Adamello Card, a pass included in the price for those staying in the consortium accommodation facilities, allowing to access events at a reduced rate, or otherwise available for purchase through the Pontedilegno-Tonale consortium.
Core to this offer are the sites touched by the First World War, a valuable attraction for the area and the Adamello Ultra Trail itself. A recently approved law proposal from the Lombardy Region aims to enhance the paths of historical, cultural and touristic interest through important economic contributions, ERSAF ((Regional Institution for Agriculture and Forest Services)and the White War Museum in Temù gave birth tothe app “Oltre le tracce della storia” (Beyond history’s footsteps), charting and navigating – even offline – through 16 paths that between 1915 and 1918 were home of the White War.
Furthermore, on every August Sunday, the first edition of the Water Music Festival will take place at the Valbiolo Lake, on the Adamello Ultra Trail route. This event consists of a series of concerts on a water floating platform, to create a summer version of the well-known Ice Music Festival. In the same period at the Valbione Lake, a fairy tale designed by the local schools will be projected on a special water-screen: an original way to involve the whole community
From late August, the runners’ season will start warming up: on Sunday, August 29th, the Adamello Series will begin, with the Adamello RUN (30 km and 600m+ competitive race at the bottom of the valley) and the Adamello SLOW (20 km non-competitive walk). For the occasion, the whole weekend will be dedicated to running: in fact, product tests are scheduled with main sponsor Mico and new technical sponsor SCARPA, as well as the chance to train on the racecoursein collaboration with the strength and conditioning professionals of the Centro Medico San Giorgio.
The icing on the cake will come a month later: aftertheAdamello Trail Junior, dedicated to kids and teenagers, scheduled for September 19th, on September 24-25-26 it will finally be time forthe Adamello Ultra Trail, with its three distances (170 km and 11500m+, 90 kmand 5700m+, 35km and 1700m+). A long-awaited event by the 650 athletes, who have rapidly claimed all the available bibs, and by the whole community, to wrap up at its best a summer season that finally smells like ordinary.
“We are proud to host an event like theAdamello Ultra Trail– commented the President of the Pontedilegno-Tonale areaDavide Panizza -, offering the opportunity to immerse oneself in breathtaking views and cross places of historical and cultural interest, such as the paths of the Great War. Over the years, the race has had an increasing media success and for us, it represents the perfect way to promote the territory and close the summer season in the best way”
